Y3PL recently introduced a new automated billing method - Daily Location. To demonstrate how to use this new feature, we'll use an example as the following.
ABC Fulfillment Company has two types of storage categories - Pallet Racks and Picking Shelfs. In addition, ABC Fulfillment also has an offer for free storages for first 3 days. The charges for one of its customer are:
|Storage Type||Charge Per Day Per Location|
|Pallet Rack||$ 0.550|
|Picking Shelf||$ 0.250|
To use daily location billing feature, ABC Fulfillment will need to set up their locations like this:
|Location Bin #||Type||Billing Category|
Note the storage type does not have anything to do with this feature
The next step is to set up two billing items like this:
|Storage - Location (Rack)||Rack|
|Storage - Location (Shelf)||Shelf|
The billing item name can be anything you want. However, the UOM should match the location billing category.
Lastly, to set up a billing activity for this particular customer with something like this:
That's it. At end of the day (11:00 PM every day), the system will calculate how many rack locations and shelf locations this customer occupied and entry them accordingly.
Note that we also had a location named A101 with category "Free". This will be simply ignored because it's not set up as a billing item and not associated to this customer's activity.
In order to use this new feature, you must use license plates in receiving and shipping. Also you must put your license plates into locations to be calculated.
